Winter Dog Sled Tours
-What To Bring-
- We are happy to provide parkas, insulated pants, over boots, and hand/feet warmer for our guest to use when necessary.
- We recommend wearing winter gloves/mittens, warm socks and winter boots, a winter hat, and a face mask or scarf. A warm base layer and an additional underlayer are recommended for our longer tours. Please wear a warm winter coat and snowpants/bibs, if possible, as well.
- If you do not have a coat or snowpants, we will provide you with a parka and insulated pants.
- Feel free to bring cameras to take photos during your tour. **Please do not bring drones. Inquire about our customizable Photography Tours for options including drone operation, videography, and professional photography.
- Dog rides create a breeze from traveling at 10mph on the dog sled, so it is usually colder than you may expect on the ride portion of the tour. Don’t get distracted from this unforgettable experience by feeling cold. Be sure to bundle up!
- Tours that take place at night provide participants with headlamps but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.
Basic Dog Sled Tour: This tour is one of our shorter tours, but please dress to be outdoors for at least one hour when participating in the Basic Dog Sled Tour.
Tag Sled Dog Ride: This tour requires participants to be outside for 2 hours including a 1 hour dog ride. Bundle up and feel free to use one of our extra warm down parkas to make sure you are warm and comfortable!
Overnight Dog Sledding Excursion: You will be sleeping in a wood stove heated outdoor tent which will stay comfortable and warm through the night. We provide cots and winter rated sleeping bag as well. Be sure to wear warm base layers to sleep in. You will take a 2.5-3 hour dog run to get to camp, so be sure to layer up and wear everything listed above. We will happily provide you with parkas, insulated pants, and overboots if you do not have sufficient gear. Your guides will make sure you are properly outfitted to stay warm for this longer trip. We will provide dinner and breakfast but any amenities and snacks you may want for your over night trip should be packed in a bag to bring with us.
Summer Sled Dog Tours
-What To Bring-
- Summer can be quite messy in Alaska! If you wish to pet and interact with the dogs be prepared to get dog hair, dirt, dust, and mud on your clothing. Our dogs are extremely enthusiastic about meeting our guests, and some dogs enjoy jumping up for hugs and kisses. Just let your guide know if you would like to interact with the dogs but prefer not to get “dirty.” We will introduce you to the mellower dogs who do not jump up.
- Wear anything that you are comfortable getting dog hair on and be sure to dress for the weather. Alaskan summer temperatures can be quite brisk and rainy so dress accordingly. Raincoats are encouraged.
- Guests with open-toed shoes will not be allowed into the dog yard to interact with the sled dogs for safety reasons. Sturdy hiking boots or tennis shoes are recommended for summer tours.
- We highly encourage guests to wear pants rather than shorts or dresses/skirts to protect your legs when dogs jump up.
- We do provide rain parkas for our guest on wet days to help keep your clothing free of mud.
- Feel free to bring cameras to take photos during your tour. **Please do not bring drones. Inquire about our customizable Photography Tours for options including drone operation, videography, and professional photography.
