There are lots of ways to support the Alaska Dog Center and the Hanging up the Harness (HUTH) Sled Dog Adoption Program. You can donate through our sponsorship program, adopt a sled dog, volunteer your time, or even just follow and share our mission with your friends online. Every little bit helps us give these amazing dogs the loving homes and care they deserve after years of hard work on the trail.

Donate Supplies

Hanging Up The Harness greatly appreciates donation of supplies.  We will happily take the following donations for the HUTH program:

• MEAT- Any freezer burned meat to dispose of? We’ll take beef, fish, fish head, moose, chicken, beaver, and anything else that does not have seasoning off your hands
• Blankets
• Towels
• Kibble and Dog Treats
• Crates
• Toys and Tennis balls
• Straw

Volunteer Your Time

We’re always looking for volunteers to help out at Hanging up the Harness (HUTH)! You can take the dogs for walks or runs, help brush them out (they love the attention), or lend a hand with projects like painting dog houses or scooping poop—it’s all part of keeping them happy and healthy. Spending time with volunteers is also great socialization for some of our shyer dogs, helping them build confidence and get used to life as a pet. And we always appreciate help with photography and videography of the dogs! Whether you’ve got an hour or a whole day, your time makes a big difference. Come hang out with some sweet, deserving pups and be part of their retirement journey!
